At Better World Rescue, every life matters. This passionate, all-volunteer nonprofit works across San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties to rescue dogs and cats from euthanasia lists. Each week, Better World Rescue hosts adoption events to help pets find loving forever homes 🏡. But contacting over 100 foster families to ask who can attend used to mean sending dozens of individual messages — and manually tracking all the responses in spreadsheets.

A follow-up Broadcast reminder goes out to confirmed attendees the day of the event. 🗓️ Better World also holds events such as Wine & Whiskers, and Pups & Beer Cups, fundraisers organized to help raise money for the organization.

This flow sends a message asking the contact if they will attend the adoption event, using quick replies for fast, easy responses. Contacts who reply “yes” are added to an attendee group. Natasha can then use this group to send pre-event broadcasts and keep confirmed attendees informed.
Not all volunteers check their email regularly, but almost everyone checks their texts. By switching to SMS, Better World Rescue stays connected with their fosters in the simplest way possible—no apps to download, no logins, no confusion for the volunteers.
